Let’s Create a Beautiful Place Together
The Vision is to make this house beautiful again, and to open it up for visitors from around the world to visit and enjoy.
We hope to create a special place that promotes inner peace and wellness, and encourages people to explore and discover for themselves their own spiritual connectivity with what Seth called “All that Is”. Seth pointed to a multi-dimensional reality of which we are all part, and encouraged us to explore the true nature of our own eternal souls.
We invite people who appreciate Seth’s words of wisdom to be able to meet here and enjoy this space. It is truly awe-inspiring to read the books in the very place where they were first channeled and to contemplate the profound and far-reaching nature of this information
So Dream Along with Us
And Let’s Co-Create the Vision of What “The Seth House” Can Be
The building was originally built as a mansion in 1888. It was converted into an apartment building in the 1930s which it has been ever since. There are eight apartments in the main house. Jane & Rob occupied apartment #5 for fifteen years, then also rented apartment #4 as an annex and office for four years. Both are on the second floor.
This building is a fixer upper, obviously, and that’s a good thing because we can put our hearts into bringing out the best that it can be. It’s our aim to open these rooms up for public access and to decorate them comfortably. There’s so much potential here!
This is where Seth spoke for 12 years. It has been closed off from the public as private apartments for 44 years. We hope to change that so that soon everyone will be able to visit this place and simply enjoy the magic of being here.
This is where Jane Roberts & Robert Butts lived from 1960-1975. Imagine the awe of simply being in the room where Seth channeled all this information to us. Sit quietly in the atmosphere of that room. Look out the original windows that they looked out of. Look into 3 original mirrors still hanging on the walls and door all these years later. Sit where she channeled, sit where she wrote, be in Rob’s art studio, and perhaps even pick up on the creative inspiration which Seth gave so freely. The magic still lingers in this timeless and spacious present.
The building, as it stands, is a mess and is in dire need of repair. As bad as it looks on the outside, we can assure you, it looks (and sometimes smells) just as bad on the inside.
Fortunately 2 of the apartments have already been restored, cleaned and painted – and what a difference that makes! 6 more apartments need TLC, as well as the back Carriage House that looks like it shouldn’t still be standing on it’s own feet. Taking care of this place, inside and out, is what we’re committed to doing. The main thing to realize is: It’s all so do-able and there are people who are keen on doing it.
The next project we want to work on will be to create “The Welcome Center”. Apartment 2 on the ground floor looks to be the likely place for it to be. Here we will meet and greet new guests and visitors. This will be where people first arrive to explore the place and ask questions about the wonderful history that will be remembered and studied for those with questioning minds. This will be where we welcome you and others who come to attend our events and gatherings.
Something we will provide at The Seth House is a beautiful bookstore containing all of their work, in every language available. Imagine with us a peaceful place, with a cozy and inviting atmosphere, and comfy chairs.
Let’s also have a cozy Cafe with coffee, tea and yummy treats… a Gift Shop with items of related interest to the Seth material… Let’s also display photos, art and memorabilia to inspire us all.
After the house is restored and prettied up, we hope to be a safe space for housing historic items for a Seth Museum. Personal items they may have owned, furnishings, cards and letters they may have sent/received, etc. We especially hope to house copies Jane and Rob’s writings, artwork, etc.
Other items of significance for Seth readers, include memorabilia from Seth Conferences, Publications that supported and circulated Seth’s ideas. Anything that would give a Seth reader goose bumps is what we would give a home to here.
These items will be safely housed and honored while they are loaned or donated to The Seth House. Items that were once theirs years ago can now come back to roost where they will be appreciated by so many Seth fans and admirers.
We want photos of everything… Jane & Rob through the years… Any pictures of Seth speaking through Jane… Friends who attended ESP Class… And where the heck can we find pictures of Willy the cat? We are actively seeking and requesting copies of photographs of this house in all of its various incarnations. We are trying to piece together exactly what it looked like over the years, interior furnishings, wall colors, etc. This will help inform us as we go about the creative art of restoration. We will display many of these photos around the house and offer it up as an online archive for further research and for everyone to enjoy.
The house has an amazing vibe (well the clean places do). Outside there are big trees, a grassy yard and gardens. Across the street there is a gorgeous river and lovely nature areas near the river to walk along. Inside, The Seth House naturally lends itself to finding quaint nooks and nice little hideaways for quiet contemplation.
Inside and out we will create quiet places to sit, read, meditate, and go into your own inner world. We will provide a peaceful place for contemplative reflection and study. This very special place, especially with your Seth books in hand, will lend itself to entering into deep personal contemplation and introspection. If you enter here with this intention, you will find plenty of this and more…
This is where we’ll enshrine the names of those who contributed to making this place happen. It will be a place of honor to remember our friends who helped support this project from the time it was a fledgling dream to a major manifestation touching the lives of many. “Your Name Here” takes on new meaning when we think about the many hands & hearts who will co-create this vision. We are still looking for an artistic design (the one to the left is cute, but…) so we welcome our visually creative friends to get something beautiful started here. See our Donate page so you too can become a “Super Donor” … 😀 … This list is already posted on this website – https://www.thesethhouse.com/donor-wall/ Thank you.
This is one of the most important dreams we have been enjoying. To really bring people together from all over the world to enjoy how meaningful this space really is and to spend beautiful days here interacting with each other and listening to thought-provoking and spiritually profound lectures, workshops, by notable and world renown speakers.
This is what it’s all about – bringing us together to share these words of wisdom with each other.
There’s so much we can do here, so let’s get started … 🙂
Many of us who have been inspired by their work have wanted a special place like this for honoring the Seth material. We’ve also wanted to visit the place where it all began, this very building, the Seth House. So finally the moment is at hand, and it’s been long overdue.
This building, their former home, office and art studio, is the obvious place for our “Seth Home” to be. This is a natural gathering place to be preserved and dedicated to the enrichment of future generations. There is such rich potential for further research into the areas of study which Seth laid out for us.
Elmira was once a golden city, economically robust with thriving cultural and architectural splendors. As with many towns across America, it has experienced its share of economic and social perplexities. Perhaps in some small way, having The Seth House established here may actually contribute to an economic upturn. “Seth Tourism” could only help the area, and this is probably the first time those 2 words have been put together.
This is a lovely town with beautiful nature surrounding it and lovely old houses (some are also in the same category of “fixer-uppers”). By beautifying one house on this very busy thoroughfare we could actually help boost the self-esteem and hope of local residents. A new positive energy on any street is all it takes to inspire more of the same.
Elmira needs to finally take pride in these notable residents – Seth, a big old spook, and his 2 buddies Jane & Rob. This could (surprisingly enough) be a big boon to an energetic, financial and cultural upswing here. Wouldn’t it be amazing if Elmira’s claim to fame is that this unique ‘inter-dimensional communication’ that happened here, is ultimately part of what makes much needed positive contributions to our collective reality? Hey, what could be better? It’s time to give the town of Elmira something really big to be proud of, and this is pretty darn huge when you stop to think about it.
The house is right across the street from the Chemung River and close to nearby nature areas. Enjoy peaceful river walks and delightful pathways through forests and waterways. Also across the street is the Walnut Street Bridge where you are only steps away from duckies, geese and other assorted wildlife. Jane and Rob must have taken many lovely walks meandering alongside the river. Enjoy your time in nature and enjoy all the seasons as they unfold all year round.
Located in Elmira’s Near Westside Historic District, it’s surrounded by lovely old houses and only a few short blocks from the downtown district with local shops and eateries. Heading east from the house you are just a few of blocks from downtown Elmira.
There are shops, restaurants, parks, and quaint old homes up and down the streets to admire. There’s also a gym, bicycle rental, and a couple of pubs. You won’t go hungry because there are tea & coffee shops like Turtle Leaf Cafe, and Downtown Grind Coffee & Tea, Light’s Bakery, Beijing Garden Chinese restaurant, and McDonald’s isn’t far away either. Holistic places like “Heart to Heart Yoga Studio” and “Live Well Upstate” are within a short walking distance. “The Healing & Learning Center” is only a 5 minute drive away.
To walk through the area, click this link to Google Maps and drag the “yellow man” to 458 West Water Street.
To the left is a picture of Arnott Art Museum & Gallery, where Jane Roberts worked at the time she began channeling Seth. This town was their home for most of their lives, so there are places they mention in the books that you can still visit today. Walk the sidewalks Jane walked when she sold Avon products all over Elmira.
See where Rob worked at Artistic Greeting (now closed). The restaurant that their landlord owned is still in the Spaziani family. Drive by St Joseph’s hospital where Jane passed from physical reality. The house on Bohemia Lane that they didn’t buy, but Seth recommended in 1964, is on the westside of town, and so is the Hill House where they moved to in 1975. If you’re seeking Rob and Jane attractions in Elmira, we’ll let you know the inside scoop.
Seth, Jane & Rob are not the only notable authors this town has been home to. No less than Samuel Clemens (aka Mark Twain) lived here and is buried just a few miles away. There are public buildings and other places named after him, including the Clemens Center for the Performing Arts. His wife’s family, the Langdons, were very influential here.
You will find much honor paid to him in this town. His old writing cabin was moved to Elmira College and is visited by admirers of his work.
To the left is a billboard that is seen when entering Elmira from the east. It shows people who lived here who made a name for themselves in the worldly world. Why isn’t Jane Roberts on that sign? We need to take care of that soon.
The Seth House is ideally located in the heart of town, across from a beautiful river, and just 20 minutes from the local Elmira-Corning Airport, and close to many nearby attractions. So we can easily welcome visitors from around the world – and show them a good time!
So together let’s imagine a place with a simple charm and nice atmosphere inside and out. We hope to invoke a gentle feeling of peaceful sanctuary as well as enjoying good-hearted and lively conversation.
This isn’t the Ritz and it doesn’t need to be. It’s a nice building in a nice town. This is where Seth gave his teachings which have been so personally meaningful for those of us who share an appreciation for them.
In earthly 3D reality a new way of thinking and interpreting life emerged here. Bringing the Seth books to a wider audience would also be a dream come true, so that this legacy will continue to reverberate around the world.
… This could be exactly what happens in Elmira.
If enough of us cared, and enough of us got together, there is nothing that would stop us from making this house a beautiful place for so many people to enjoy and be enriched by. We promise to put your tax deductible contributions to work wisely. We will get to the heart of the matter with promoting the Seth material, and bringing people together, and making a community center we will all be proud of.
We have a lot of work ahead of us to manifest this vision. But we are so charged up and ready to roll. We will make this shabby old building transform and shine brightly. We will create facilities that welcome people from around the world, and embrace the local community in loving arms. Please go to the Donate page and see how you can share the vision and be proud to be a vital part of making the Seth House happen.
